Scrunch and Relax

Flex your muscles and relax

Directions

Scrunch or tense one part of your body. Hold it for a few seconds, then release. Repeat with different body parts.

How It Helps

Tensing and relaxing your muscles helps release stress in your body and tells your brain it’s okay to calm down.

This technique, called progressive muscle relaxation, is based on evidence showing it can reduce physical tension and stress.

Tip

If your body starts to hurt, stop.
