Belly Breathing
Expand your belly as you breathe
Directions
Place your hands on your belly. Breathe in through your nose and feel your belly expand. Then let the air out through your mouth as your belly gets small again. Slowly repeat this a few times.
How It Helps
Placing your hands on your belly while breathing helps you focus on deep breaths from your diaphragm that calm your body.
Research shows that belly breathing reduces stress and promotes relaxation by engaging the parasympathetic nervous system.
Tip
If you start to feel dizzy or lightheaded, stop right away.
Check in when you're done!
