How It Helps

Using your senses to notice things around you helps your brain shift focus and calm down by bringing your attention to the present moment.

This technique, often called grounding, is supported by evidence showing that focusing on sensory experiences can reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.

Don't worry if you can't find the exact number. You can find more or less for each sense.
